To be invited to the table when we want to indulge in a soft, enveloping, and greatly harmonic wine. It owes its name to the “Vinacciere” ships that took off from the Apulian ports, loaded with wine used to strengthen that of others, produced in less sunny areas.
Characteristics
Wine grapes: Aleatico 100%
Vineyards location: Marchione district area, Conversano (BA), Apulia – Italy
Soil characteristics: stony, limestone karst
Training system: espalier
Yields per plant: 1-4 kg approx
Year of implant: 1990’s
Harvest: roughly in the second half of September and then only after a slight withering of the vines
Vinification: at a controlled temperature, with a more prolonged maceration on the skins, which gives the wine the typical characteristics of the grape and makes it velvety soft
Ageing: in steel tanks for 18 months and then left for a further two years in bottles to round and enrich the aromas and taste
Annual production: about 15,000 bottles
Serving temperature: 18 ° -20 ° C
Tasting Notes
Colour: garnet red, clear, with purple hue, quite substantial
Bouquet: intense and persistent, finely aromatic, of berries and ripe red fruit pulp, broad and with the intention to evolve over time
Palate: warm, soft, tannic and fruity, full-bodied, quite balanced, intense and persistent, excellent overall harmony and a fruity aftertaste on the palate with a touch of velvet
Food pairings: it is a wine to enjoy throughout the whole meal, served with pappardelle pasta with cod sauce, barley and porcini mushroom soup, apple strudel
Cellaring: it can have a long life of between 5 and 10 years if stored correctly
