The weather of the 2015 growing season was decidedly “Mediterranean”, marked as it was by a springtime of regular temperatures and humidity and then a decidedly hot and dry summer.
The excellent balance between vegetation and grapes in our vineyards led, nonetheless, to a proper and sustained growth of the vines and ripening of the fruit, to the point that the Negroamaro harvest took place during the first week of September, in line with the historic pattern of our estate.

Vintage 2015
The weather of the 2015 growing season was decidedly “Mediterranean”, marked as it was by a springtime of regular temperatures and humidity and then a decidedly hot and dry summer.
The excellent balance between vegetation and grapes in our vineyards led, nonetheless, to a proper and sustained growth of the vines and ripening of the fruit, to the point that the Negroamaro harvest took place during the first week of September, in line with the historic pattern of our estate.
In addition, the aromatic freshness and the vibrant finesse which have always been the preeminent characteristics of Calafuria were by no means affected by the summer heat.

Production: The grapes, selected and picked by hand, were delicately destemmed and given a soft pressing. The must then went into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and chilled to 50° Fahrenheit (10° centigrade) to assist a natural settling of impurities. Fermentation then fol out a low temperature (61° Fahrenheit, or 16° centigrade) to conserve as well as possible the primary aromas.
A brief aging period in stainless steel tanks then followed along with a further four months of bottle aging before commercial release.

Alcohol: 12 % vol.

Tasting Notes: Color rose petal pink, Aroma intense and delicate with fragrant notes of pink grapefruit, peaches, and floral notes of violent immediately felt Flavor a wine which is both fresh and supple at the same time, decidedly savory with an excellent balanced acidity and persistence.
