Tormaresca

2017

2013 was a vintage with positive weather throughout the entire year, abundant rainfall during the winter months and regular temperatures during the spring and summer seasons. The peak temperatures which characterized the previous vintages were absent; temperatures, winds, and humidity were all favorable.
Positive temperature swings from daytime heat to evening and nighttime coolness assisted in achieving an excellent physiological ripening of the grapes, a interesting aromatic profile, and a vigorous acidity.
As an early-ripening variety, Primitivo felt to a greater extent the consequences of delays in ripening, and the grapes, in fact, matured a week later than usual, during the first ten days of September.

Schola Sarmenti

2018 Limited Production

Primitivo from 80-year-old vines Limited production (numbered bottles) 80 years of history flow into the Schola Sarmenti older vines sap. A patient green pruning gives birth to this Primitivo wine, whose production is deliberately limited  to focus on its excellent quality. The precious gift of a unique terroir; the work of clever, loving hands.
Harvesting and wine-making:
Grapes are picked up by hand and gently laid down into little airy crates, arriving as whole bunches at the winery. Once there, grapes are further selected using an advanced sorting table.
Bouquet: A very meticulous wine making for this superb Primitivo. This wine delivers a heady nose  of red fruits and balsamic flavours that highlight its structure and complexity, ending with toasted nuances and strong spicy notes.

Tormaresca

2017

The growing season in the Castel del Monte area, where the Bocca di Lupo vineyards are located, had two distinct phases: the first, from March to July, was characterized by rather cool weather with frequent rainfall, phenomenon which caused some delay in plant and grape growth and development, while the second, beginning in early August, hot and dry and lasting all the way through the harvest itself, assisted in a full and complete recovery of the previous delay and an excellent ripening of the crop. The picking of the Aglianico grapes in the proprietary vineyards of the estate began on October 5th and continued up to the 20th of the month with high level results in terms of grape quality. The 2011 vintage will surely be considered one of the finest of all for the qualitative excellent of the wines produced.
